Scuba Diving The Biggest Museum In The World MUSA

Introduction

Hola amigos and welcome back to Mexico! I’m currently on a journey all the way from Mexico to the most southern point of South America, chasing adventures at every single stop along the way. We are now in country number one, Mexico. We’ve moved on from Isla Holbox and we are now on Isla Mujeres, with a slightly less rustic vibe as it’s one of the main touristy places just off Cancun. But we’re here for one very special reason – I’m going to be showing you the largest Underwater Museum in the world today.

Musa – The Underwater Museum

This museum is called Musa or Museo Suba. It was created to preserve natural coral reefs, and now, loads of fish have made it their new home. Musa has 500 sculptures and was started in 2009 to help build another reef in the area because the nearby Manchones Reef was receiving all of the attention from tourists and was getting a bit damaged.

Exploring the Underwater Museum

We swam through this ring of Destiny to enter and went through a little village. Then, onto hundreds of standing human statues which were insane, felt like I was in a Tomb Raider game discovering Atlantis. There’s even a Volkswagen Beetle underwater! We then moved on to a nearby coral reef for an awesome mix of fish. We encountered a surge current down there, which was a new experience for me. We also saw a pufferfish, barracudas, and the king of the sea – the Hawksbill Turtle, which was a perfect way to end the dive.

Conclusion

I bet you didn’t think you’d experience an underwater museum today, did you? Neither did I, to be honest. It was quite a last-minute plan, but thoroughly enjoyed it. From the Volkswagen Beetle to the tight cave swim-through to the big swarms of yellow fish, it was very nice to get back in the water. But that’s not the extent of the diving we’re going to be experiencing over the next couple of weeks. In fact, in the next video, we’re going to be diving in the beautiful cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula, beautiful freshwater rock formations that we’re going to be diving through. So stay tuned for more adventures!
